This page sets out how GamerAfter decides what to publish, who writes it, and what happens when we get something wrong. It applies to every article on the site, including sponsored pieces.
Who Writes Our Content?
Articles are written by named members of our team, each assigned to areas they actually play or work in. Guest contributors are credited with a byline and a short bio.
We do not publish unattributed filler, and we do not accept ghostwritten posts submitted on behalf of a third party.
AI tools are used only for routine tasks such as spellchecking or formatting tables. No article is generated by a language model and published as human work. Testing, opinions and conclusions come from people.
How We Test and Verify?
Hardware reviews are based on at least two weeks of daily use. Game reviews follow 15 to 30 hours of playtime, longer for open-world and live-service titles.
Troubleshooting guides are written only after the writer has reproduced the problem and confirmed the fix on their own setup, and the article states which console firmware, driver or software version was used.
News items link to the original source. When a story comes from a leak or a single anonymous claim, we label it as unconfirmed in the headline and the opening paragraph.
Editing Process
Every draft passes through two people before publication. An editor checks factual claims against primary sources such as developer patch notes, official support pages and manufacturer specifications.
A second reader then works through the piece as a newcomer would, flagging any step that assumes knowledge the reader may not have.
Corrections
Mistakes get fixed, not deleted. When we correct a published article, we amend the text and add a dated note at the bottom describing what changed.
Substantial rewrites, such as a revised review score after a major patch, are flagged at the top of the page with the reason and date.
Readers can report errors through our contact page. We respond to correction reports within two working days.
Independence and Advertising
Editorial decisions are separate from commercial ones. Advertisers, affiliate partners and PR agencies have no say in what we cover, how we score a product, or whether a critical article runs.
Review Samples
Most products we test are bought at retail. When a company sends a review unit, we disclose it at the top of the article. Samples are returned or, where the manufacturer declines to take them back, kept for long-term testing rather than resold.
Affiliate Links
Some articles contain affiliate links that earn us a commission on purchases. These links never influence a verdict, and we do not add them to products we advise against buying. Pages containing affiliate links carry a notice above the first link.
Sponsored Content
Paid articles are labelled as sponsored in the headline and cannot carry a review score. We turn down sponsorships that require approval over wording or that ask us to remove criticism.
Ownership and Funding
GamerAfter is independently owned and funded by advertising, affiliate revenue and occasional sponsorships. No publisher, hardware manufacturer or platform holder has a stake in the site.
